Two kinds of efficacy statistics are customarily calculated for contraceptive methods. “Method-effectiveness” is the level of effectiveness obtained when using a method consistently, according to label instructions. The method-effectiveness for Today® Sponge, which was derived from a controlled worldwide clinical study, is 89% to 91% (see Today® Sponge product labeling). What that actually means is about one pregnancy for every 1,250 to 1,500 acts of intercourse Today® Sponge does not contain

female contraceptives?
Which ones are the best???
I had spoken to the doc about mirena, however, she replied with ‘ are you sure you wont have instances where you have a dirty penis enter u and it kill you? This wasnt my regular gyno, she was a doc from a walkin clinic i had to go to but still, she brought it up, and yes the only person im sleeping with is just ONE guy, and he’s the only one i plan to be with. But, what if he cheats?? and gives me something, is it as crucial as she made it be? On the other hand, i dont plan to have babies not for another few years, so mirena would be good right? But then there is also depo, any of you have any suggestions that could help me?? please, on the meantime im considering using female condoms myself, where can i purchase them?? Ive never seen em at walmart, never looked at target. The only place i remember seeing them is at like a sex store,is that the only place that sells them?r they hard 2 use?uncomfortable?do you like them?Do you not?any opinions would be hlpfl.
Nope, i dont smoke, hardly drink. im 24 years old. i cant rely on the pill, i always forget, and as for the condom, well my partner doesn tlike to use them, he will if i ask for him to, but i cant tell he’d rather go without, like i said he’s my only partner and so, thats why i was leaning towards me using the condom myself.

OK, not sure what the other commenter means about the oral sex taste, but it does not exist. My bf (now husband) cannot even tell I am using anything with this product. No feeling, no taste, nothing. Sure, it doesn’t protect against STDs, but neither does the pill. This works much better because there are no side effects, no hormones and no waiting time. You just insert it and you are ready to go. It’s even better than a diaphragm because no prescription is needed and the spermicide is in the sponge. All you do is open the package, wet the sponge, squeeze it to distribute the spermicide within it, and insert, which is very easy. That’s it! Removal is no problem, too.

    Yes, we love these things!

The only disadvantage I can think of for this one is the fact that sometimes there is a little foamy leakage. I planned ahead one day and grabbed one early, so that when the kids went to sleep we would be ready. In the course of the afternoon, I was busy doing standard domestic stuff–dishes, cooking, chasing a 3 year old and two other children, not to mention walking the dog– there was a certain amount of leakage from the spermacide. Perhaps I accidentally used too much water or something, but it was a one time issue.

Hubby said order more, he loves them, said he doesn’t even know they are there. I couldn’t say on the oral, we haven’t done that with these, and we don’t risk relying on them on the actual day of ovulation, but overall, I have to say, wonderful product, no risk, no problems, comfortable, easy to insert and remove. Also no need to watch the clock to see when that narrow window is like you have with films, foams, and jellies.

First, it is not just men who don’t like condoms. I’m a woman and I hate condoms. The guys I’ve dated have been more than willing to use condoms. If a guy was unwilling to wear a condom, I’m not sure I would trust him, and I would probably not have sex with him. However, I do not like condoms and therefore I’ve chosen to use other forms of birth control. After trying the pill, the novaring, and a diagphram, I discovered the sponge. I highly recommend it. My boyfriend cannot feel it, and there is no numbness or strange taste. It is not an “alternative” for me, it is my first choice.
